The fact that they have always been self-confident in their music was already ensured by the Sun King Louis XIV. The fact that despite all their pride, the composers of the Grand Nation have sometimes secretly looked beyond their borders is also evident in the music for viola da gamba, the French baroque instrument par excellence.
Pierre Pitzl and his friends present a selection of music that is stylistically oriented towards the Italians and created something new by mixing it with the French Goût. As a comparison, the selection includes Corelli or Michele Mascitti, a violinist hardly known today.
Dass die Franzosen auch heute noch ihren Nationalstolz haben, wird nicht zuletzt in den Sitzungen des EU-Parlaments immer wieder klar. Dass sie auch in der Musik stets selbstbewusst waren, dafür sorgte schon der Sonnenkönig Ludwig XIV. Dass bei allem Stolz die Komponisten der Grand Nation bisweilen heimlich über die Grenzen geschaut haben, zeigt sich auch an der Musik für Viola da gamba, dem französischen Barockinstrument schlechthin.
Pierre Pitzl und seine Freunde präsentieren in ihrer Auswahl Musik. die sich stilistisch an den Italienern orientiert und durch Mischung mit dem französischen Goût Neues kreiierte. Quasi zum Vergleich sind in der Auswahl Corelli oder der heute kaum bekannte Geiger Michele Mascitti vertreten.
