Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring
Johann Sebastian Bach
Choir and Orchestra of the Bach Cantata Club, London · Kennedy Scott
One of the earliest recordings of Bach's best-loved chorale, made in London in 1931 for The Columbia History of Music by Ear and Eye (Columbia DB 507). Charles Kennedy Scott conducts the Choir and Orchestra of the Bach Cantata Club in the chorale from the cantata Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben, BWV 147, sung in Robert Bridges' English version of Martin Jahn's hymn text. Newly restored from the original 78 rpm shellac.
